I’m a huge smoothie fan! Not only are they quick and easy to make; they look good, taste great and deliver an instant hit of essential vitamins, minerals and fibre.
Smoothies are endlessly versatile and you can mix and match your ingredients to match your health goals. Hurray! Fancy filling up of your five a day first thing in the morning? Want to give your antioxidant levels a boost? Need an after school snack for the children that looks sinful but is secretly saintly? A smoothie is just what you need.

The ‘Tropical taste sensation’ Smoothie
- A handful of fresh or frozen mango chunks
- A handful of fresh or frozen pineapple chunks
- A generous glug of almond milk
- 4 ice cubes
- A squeeze of lime
The ‘Morning energiser’ Smoothie
- A generous handful of chopped frozen bananas and strawberries
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- Top up with coconut milk
- Ice cubes to serve
The ‘It’s a milkshake kids, honestly!’ Smoothie
- 2 chopped bananas
- 6 chopped strawberries
- A handful of blueberries
- 1 tsp of milled chia seeds
- 250g (half a large pot) of low fat Natural Yoghurt
The ‘Afternoon pick-me-up’ Smoothie
- 8 strawberries, hulled
- 110ml (4 fl oz) skimmed milk
- 120g (4 oz) low-fat plain yoghurt
- 3 tablespoons demerara sugar
- 1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 6 cubes ice, crushed
The ‘Nicer than it sounds’ smoothie
- 1 handful Spinach
- 1 handful Kale
- 1 quarter of a pink apple
- A big chunk of Pinapple
- Half a glass of water to blend!
The ‘To die for’ chocolate Smoothie
- 1 banana (frozen)
- 4 pitted dates
- 6 almonds
- 1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla or chocolate)
- 3/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- 1tbsp raw cocoa powder
